CBI Academy is located at Kamla Nehru Nagar, Hapur Road, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. It started functioning on 10th January, 1996. Prior to this, the training programmes of CBI were being held at the CBI Training Centre at Lok Nayak Bhawan, New Delhi. Over the years, CBI Academy has emerged as a major police training institution and has made a mark at the National as well as International level. Recently, it has also been awarded with the ISO 9001:2008 Certification in March 2010, for Excellance in Training in the field of Crime Investigation, Prosecution and Vigilance.
The training curriculum at CBI Academy aims at enhancing professional knowledge and skills in order to inculcate right attitudes in individual and groups forming an organization. Rapid changes in modus operandi, increasing use of sophisticated and state-of-the-art gadgetry by criminals, ever changing patterns of crime and increasing complexity of the case law owing to judgments and orders pronounced by the Constitutional Courts on various issues related to substantive and procedural law, newer and unconventional types of cases increasingly getting referred to CBI for investigation, are all posing tremendous challenge to the investigators. As a result, there has been a constant requirement of upgradation of the skills of the Investigating Officers, Supervisory Officers and Supporting staff. To uphold the trust and confidence of the people, a well trained human resource is of utmost importance and therefore a well structured training shall ensure constant improvement in the functioning of CBI.
